Who are the ideal customers for your gym?

Define your ideal gym customers!

When you launch your gym, you're happy to welcome new customers. Over time, however, it becomes important to define which types of customer are best suited to your structure. You may want them to be cooperative in their work, stay longer, spend more, bring in more new members, and so on.

At some point, you're going to have to target your sales strategy to a certain type of customer, and it's up to you to define that clientele. We'll explain it all in this AZEOO article!

The cheapest isn't always the best

If you go for the lowest price, you run the risk of attracting customers looking for the cheapest deal. This may be fine for a while, but it's going to bring in a diverse range of customers, and you'll be forced to make sacrifices when it comes to the quality of your installations.

Define your ideal customer

Here are a few key points to help you define your ideal clientele:

  • Go back a few years or months and think about which customers brought you the most profit. Think about the ones who brought you the most profit, not just the ones who spent more (because you may have had to invest in them). Naturally, this is the type of customer you'll be looking for.
  • Also think about all the fitness-related programs and promotions you've run recently. Which ones have worked best? These will help you identify the good customers who have invested their money, time and energy in them.
  • What are the major trends in the fitness world today? The market is constantly evolving, and moving towards a type of practice seems like a good idea, but think about the target audience and potential customers it could bring in the long term. It would be a shame to have to restructure your gym every year in response to changing sporting fashions!

Focus your marketing

Once you've defined your ideal customer base, it's time to adjust your marketing strategy. Get together as a team, if necessary, and discuss it. Then look for ways to make your choices and your venue more attractive to this type of customer. The image you choose for your structure will certainly be the most important choice in guiding this new commercial dynamic.
